The Econtago Inauguration Ceremony 2026, organised by ECONTAGO – The Economics Association, was held on 19th June 2026 at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bannerghatta Road Campus, marking the formal commencement of the academic year 2026–27. The event was attended by 300 students from various programmes of the Department of Economics. The ceremony featured an insightful address by Dr. K. Gayathri, Public Finance and Fiscal Policy Expert at ISEC, on “Balancing Equity and Efficiency: The Devolution Strategy of the 16th Finance Commission.” The session provided students with valuable insights into fiscal federalism, regional disparities, resource distribution, and fiscal responsibility. The event also included the formal handing over of scrolls to the newly appointed Secretaries and Committee Heads, symbolising the transition of leadership and responsibilities. The new Core Committee was unveiled, followed by the presentation of the Department Calendar outlining the year’s planned activities. The Department Coordinator, Dr. Roopa Patavardhan, highlighted the department’s vision and encouraged active student participation. Overall, the inauguration set an academic and organisational direction for the year while encouraging students to engage with contemporary economic and policy issues.
