The SDG Cell of the Department of Economics at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bannerghatta Road Campus, is a student-driven platform that promotes awareness, research, action and innovation aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The Cell engages with multiple SDGs through academic activities, research projects, sustainability initiatives, seminars, workshops and community outreach addressing diverse social, economic and environmental challenges. CHRIST (Deemed to be University) has also been appointed as the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) SDG Hub 5 Chair for the 2025–2027 cohort, with SDG 5 – Gender Equality being the University's designated UNAI Hub focus. This appointment strengthens the University's leadership in advancing gender equality through education, research, advocacy and community engagement, while the SDG Cell continues to work across the broader SDG framework. Through these initiatives, the Cell encourages students to apply economic and interdisciplinary perspectives to sustainability challenges and contribute towards building an inclusive, equitable and sustainable society.
