National Cadet Corps (NCC)

Overview

The Naval Wing of the National Cadet Corps at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bannerghatta Road Campus, was established in 2022. Operating under the 1 Karnataka Naval Unit NCC, the Naval Wing is committed to shaping young cadets into responsible citizens through a holistic approach that trains the body, sharpens the mind, and moulds character.
Parades are held on a monthly basis throughout the year. During these sessions, cadets undergo structured training in naval-specific disciplines such as seamanship, semaphore, boat pulling, sailing, rigging, naval communication, ship modelling, drill, weapon training, firing, and naval theory. Dedicated classes and practice sessions are conducted for each of these domains to ensure both conceptual understanding and hands-on proficiency. Alongside core activities, cadets also participate in swimming sessions, cultural events, social awareness initiatives, theory classes, and visits to naval bases. The training also integrates adventure and team-building exercises that enhance both physical endurance and mental resilience.
The Naval Wing offers vast opportunities for personal development—physically, mentally, and intellectually. It instils not only discipline and stamina but also cultivates articulate, well-informed, and adaptable individuals. The training structure is designed to produce well-rounded cadets who are equipped to navigate the challenges of both service and civilian life with confidence and clarity.
Over the course of the year, cadets take part in a variety of camps including Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, Mountaineering Camps, Trekking Camps, Naval and Army Attachment Camps, and prestigious national-level camps such as the All India Nau Sainik Camp and the All India Republic Day Camp. The Naval Wing, in a span of just 3 years since induction has made a significant impact—earning accolades, recognition, and admiration within NCC Units. Built steadily with the dedication of its cadets and under the able leadership of Sub Lieutenant Robert Sebastian, the wing embodies the spirit of India’s indigenously developed naval capabilities—resilient, evolving, and proudly self-sustaining.
