The BCom International Accountancy and Finance programme (Previously BBA Finance & Accountancy) is tailored for students with ambitions to become forward-thinking business leaders, innovative entrepreneurs, and catalysts for economic growth. It equips them with financial and entrepreneurial skills to excel as financial analysts
and specialists in enterprise ventures, all while fostering a global perspective on sustainable and inclusive development. Additionally, this program is closely aligned with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), UK, offering students the opportunity to pursue the ACCA qualification.
The BCom Finance and Accountancy programme at CHRIST University is designed to nurture future-ready professionals in the areas of accounting, auditing, taxation, corporate finance, financial reporting, governance and advisory services. The programme is especially suitable for students who aspire to pursue the Chartered Accountancy course of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India while completing their undergraduate degree. Over the years, the Department has developed an in-house CA facilitation centre that supports students through structured mentoring, academic guidance, training and professional grooming. The facilitation team works closely with the undergraduate programme so that students are able to balance their BCom academic learning with their CA preparation journey. The programme aims to develop professionals who can contribute to organisations through responsible financial reporting, sound audit practices, ethical decision-making, due diligence, taxation knowledge, corporate governance and sustainable business practices. Along with core commerce learning, students are also exposed to employability-oriented skill enhancement courses such as Advanced Excel, Tableau, Python, Portfolio Management, Six Sigma and Financial Modelling, as mentioned in the existing programme page. The programme is structured to support students in pursuing CA Foundation and CA Intermediate examinations alongside their undergraduate studies. Further progression in the CA pathway, including practical training, will be subject to ICAI regulations, examination outcomes and individual student progression.
BCOM (International Finance) focuses on the areas of International Finance, Public Accounting and Financial Analysis. With this unique blend of emphasis, this programme enables students to propel their careers as financial analysts, valuation experts, public accountants, risk experts, wealth creators and Managers both in corporate and merchant banking domains.
1. The programme is finalised with reference to the:
• CSO (Content Specification Outline) of the Uniform CPA (Certified Public Accountant) Examinations conducted by the AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants), USA.
• CBOK (Candidate Body of Knowledge) for the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Level 1 exams conducted by the CFA Institute, USA.
2. Employability skill enhancement courses like Advanced Excel, Tableau, Power BI, Python, and AIML.
3. Seasoned academicians and CFA, CPA, and/or CA- qualified faculty members enable easier and more comprehensive coverage of the curriculum.
4. Experiential Learning modules, Differential placement, and internship opportunities.
5.This programme has two electives:-
•Elective 1: Finance and Investments (for CFA aspirants)
This elective equips candidates with knowledge and skills in investment tools, financial modelling, asset valuation, portfolio management, and ethical standards to prepare them for a career in the investment management profession.
•Elective 2: Public Accounting (for CPA aspirants)
This elective prepares candidates with knowledge and skills in accounting, auditing, taxation, and fraud detection, ensuring their readiness to meet professional standards and provide high-quality services in public accounting and business environments.
After completing 3 years of undergraduate studies of the programme, students admitted to this track have an option to pursue a one-year post graduate degree - MS in Accounting (or an equivalent post graduate degree) from a partner university in the United States of America. This unique opportunity enables students to fulfil the minimum credit requirements for the CPA (USA) examination. The students also have an option to take up ADBA – Advanced Diploma in Business Accounting, an online course approved by NASBA to meet the credit deficit to be eligible to write CPA examinations.
