One-on-one Session
MACS members provide a one-on-one, peer-mentoring service for on-campus students. Peer mentors essentially play the role of active listeners who hear out and support their peers. It is like a buddy system that establishes a non-judgemental and safe environment while maintaining confidentiality to the highest regard. This in turn facilitates peers in distress to help themselves.Through the peer mentoring initiative, MACS aims to bridge the gap between immediate tangible support and professional help to students and faculty alike.
Group Discussions
The group discussions led by MACS members, is an initiative that allows students from different clusters to come together and voice their opinions, questions or concerns about certain topics. These group discussions are carefully navigated through a series of leading questions that will direct the conversation while giving every participant the chance to speak, or solely listen.
Listening Circles.
Our listening circles are basically a highly structured form of dialogue with a specific topic for each session. Topics may range from mental health and awareness to general life stories and experiences and managed in a way where there are no ethical violations before, during or after the session.
With these sessions, we hope to assist others in their journey of healing, catharsis and self-discovery. For this reason, participants can choose to merely listen or to share their own stories and experiences, if they so desire.
